Odetics Reaches Agreement on Recorder for Satellite

Odetics Inc., the Anaheim-based robotics and high-technology electronics firm, said it reached a final agreement on its contract with Applied Physics Laboratory in Laurel, Md., for the development of a tape recorder system for a research satellite.
Under the terms of the $1.8-million contract, Odetics will provide data recorders for a research mission that Applied Physics is developing for the Navy.
Odetics also will supply Applied Physics with a number of data storage systems.
An Odetics spokesman said the company had been authorized by Applied Physics to proceed with the work pending final agreement on a contract.
Development of the system has been in process at Odetics since April and is scheduled for delivery May 15.
The Applied Physics Laboratory is a division of Johns Hopkins University in Maryland.
