Orange County College Baseball : Chapman Rallies Twice in Doubleheader, 8-3 and 18-2

Chapman College rallied twice to sweep a nonconference doubleheader, 8-3 and 18-2, over Eastern Connecticut State at Hart Park Tuesday.
In the first game, Eastern took a 1-0 lead on an unearned run in the third inning, but Bucky Bollinger tied the game with a home run in the bottom of the inning. John Morin drove in three runs, and pitcher Steve Dunn (1-0) allowed just three hits and one earned run over 6 innings.
In the second game, Eastern scored two in the first on Jeff Johnson’s double, but the Panthers sent 13 men to the plate in the second inning, scoring 9 runs on 6 hits and 4 walks. Chapman scored six runs in the fifth inning.
Jeff Morrison went 3 for 5 with 2 doubles and 4 RBIs in the second game, and Darren Nelson went 2 for 3 with a home run and 4 RBIs. Freshman left-hander David Bird went five innings for his third victory this year for Chapman (10-12).
Cal State Long Beach 7, Southern California College 4--Shane Larker and Adam Zunino each had a double and a single and scored once to lead the 49ers at Costa Mesa.
Long Beach scored six runs in the seventh to erase the Vanguards’ 3-1 lead. Paul Tognieri, who pitched a complete game, struck out five and walked seven to get the victory.
SCC (7-15) was led by Kevin Kasper, who went 2 for 4 and Mike Lomeli, who had a solo home run in the second. Josh Johnson (1-2) was the losing pitcher.
USD 6, Cal State Fullerton 1--Sean Baron hit two home runs--one in the third with two on and another in the seventh with the bases empty--for the victory at USD. The Toreros raised their record to 15-9. Fullerton (17-10) scored its run in the ninth inning on doubles by Mike Ross and Keith Kaub.
