Names in the News - March 10, 1987

Scott Brooks, a senior guard who averaged 23.8 points a game, was named Most Valuable Player of the 1986-87 UC Irvine basketball team at an awards banquet Monday night in the Bren Center. Joe Buchanan, a senior guard, was named honorary captain, and junior center Wayne Englestad was chosen “Mr. Inside.” Frank Woods, a transfer from Seward County Community College in Kansas, was named top newcomer and Steve Florentine was freshman of the year.
