CHICAGO — The Chicago Volvo tennis tournament is expected to move out of the University of Illinois-Chicago Pavilion after this year and seek a permanent home at Northwestern University.
William P. Mergler, assistant to the Volvo president, said: “We will not renew our contract at the UIC Pavilion after this year’s tournament in order to seek a site more suitable to the tourneys’ needs,”
This year’s competition is set for March 30-April 5.
“We much prefer a site such at Northwestern’s Welsh-Ryan arena which seats around 9,000 persons,” he said.
