Sean Blankenship scored on a wild pitch with one out in the ninth inning Tuesday to give Fullerton College a 4-3 upset victory over Cerritos, the top-ranked team in Southern California, in a South Coast Conference game at Cerritos.
The unranked Hornets are 2-0 in conference and 6-3-2 overall. Cerritos is 1-1 and 10-2.
In the ninth, Blankenship led off with a walk and took second when Reggie Brown was hit by a pitch. The runners advanced on a sacrifice before Blankenship scored on losing pitcher Pat Yano’s wild pitch.
Cerritos loaded the bases with one out in the ninth but winning pitcher Brad Hopper (1-1) got Jeff Farrar to hit into a double play to end the game.
Brian Hunter had a three-run home run for the Falcons.
