The Teamsters Union’s civil suit, filed in U.S. District Court in San Francisco, aims at forcing Pacific Southwest Airlines into binding arbitration over a contract dispute stemming from USAir’s proposed $400-million acquisition of PSA. San Diego-based PSA has maintained that the dispute should be settled by the National Mediation Board, rather than through arbitration. USAir has linked its acquisition of PSA to management successfully winning the contract modifications. The union represents 3,445 PSA flight attendants, ground personnel, machinists and station agents.
