Musician Little Richard on Wednesday sued two Southern California songwriters and asked an L. A. County Superior Court judge to rule that he and singer Billy Preston wrote the song “It’s a Matter of Time,” which they performed in the film “Down and Out in Beverly Hills.” Little Richard, whose real name is Richard Penniman, said he wrote the song but agreed to make Preston co-author when he suggested the line “Great gosh a’mighty.” Defendants are Sylvia Smith and John Schuller.
