The Region : Mother Sentenced in Child Abuse Case
- Share via
Declaring that mothers cannot stand by while their husbands abuse their young children, a judge sentenced a Thousands Oaks woman to three years in state prison for failing to protect two of her children. Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Judith C. Chirlin said the sentence should send a message to the public and to the defendant, Kathy L. Taylor, 28, who was convicted of two felony counts of endangering the health of a child. Taylor’s husband, Thomas, 37, was recently sentenced to 43 years in prison by Chirlin for molesting his two young daughters and three other girls, aged 5 to 12. While Kathy Taylor has led a “tragic” life, Chirlin said, the children are now “scarred for life . . . without the intervention of Mrs. Taylor.”
