Rancho Mission Viejo’s Santa Margarita Co. has contributed $100,000 to help fund a celebration marking the 100th anniversary of the founding of Orange County in 1989.
The gift from the company--founded by the descendants of the O’Neills, who moved to Orange County in 1882, when it still was part of Los Angeles County--will be paid in four installments of $25,000 each, according to Frank L. Smith, president of Orange County Centennial Inc.
