Sinatra Resting After 2nd Surgery

RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. — Frank Sinatra was recovering Tuesday from a second operation stemming from surgery in November in which a 12-inch section of his large intestine was removed.

Sinatra, 71, had the surgery after finishing the taping of a “Magnum, P.I” television episode in Hawaii, said Susan Reynolds, the singer’s spokeswoman. She did not describe the procedure.

Sinatra underwent emergency surgery at Eisenhower Medical Center in early November after suffering an attack of acute diverticulitis that forced him to cancel a show at the Golden Nugget in Atlantic City, N.J.

Since that operation, Sinatra was among an all-star group of entertainers to perform at the refurbished Carnegie Hall in New York on Dec. 15.
