A masked robber, armed with a knife, knocked down a 64-year-old security guard at a retirement home early Tuesday and ransacked the offices, police said.
Stanton Police Sgt. Steven Kelch said Carroll A. Hocker was making rountine rounds inside the Quaker Gardens Retirement Home at 12151 Dale Steet at 3:30 a.m. when the robber knocked him to the floor.
The intruder held a knife to Hocker’s throat and ordered him to lead the way to the home’s cash, Kelch said. After ransacking the offices, the suspect tied Hocker to a chair with a telephone cord and fled with an undetermined amount of money, Kelch added.
The guard untied himself and called police. The robber was described as as blond, in his late 20s, 5 feet, 8 inches tall and 130 pounds.
