A defendant in the 1984 shooting death of a Los Angeles police officer in a robbery at a Chinatown jewelry store has been found guilty of two robbery counts and one assault count in a separate 1984 incident. Sang Nam Chinh, 21, of Rosemead, is to be sentenced Feb. 2 in Los Angeles County Superior Court on charges of robbing a Los Angeles household at gunpoint in November, 1984. Jury selection is scheduled to begin this month for Chinh and Hau Cheong Chan of Alhambra in the death of police Officer Duane Johnson and two other suspects at the Jin Hing Co. jewelry store.
