NORFOLK, Va. — A Navy helicopter was ditched and sank in the Atlantic Ocean about 70 miles east of Cape Canaveral, Fla., early Sunday, but its three crewmen were rescued uninjured, a spokeswoman for the Naval Air Force Atlantic said.
The FH-2 Seasprite anti-submarine helicopter was on a routine mission from the cruiser Yorktown, based in Norfolk, Cmdr. Jolene Keefer said. She said the crew apparently reacted to “an in-flight emergency,” but would give no details.
