Orange County Prep Soccer : Sosa Goal Gives Kennedy Win

Fernando Sosa scored eight minutes into the game to lead Kennedy High School to a 1-0 win over Cypress in an Empire League soccer match at Cypress High.
The goal was Sosa’s seventh this season. Jack McConnell, Cypress goalkeeper, made five saves for his fifth shutout this season. Kennedy is 7-2-1.
In other boys’ nonleague matches:
Dana Hills 2, Corona del Mar 0--Sean Vandel scored 12 minutes into the second half off a pass by halfback Chris Astrand. Gabe Smith scored with 18 minutes remaining for the Dolphins (7-2-1) at Dana Hills.
Bolsa Grande 4, Leuzinger 2--Mark Miller scored two goals to lead the Matadors at Bolsa Grande. Jose Cueva and Bob Bowers also scored for the Matadors (2-6).
In girls’ soccer:
Mater Dei 5, St. Joesephs 0--Laura Spinner led the Monarchs with two goals in the Angelus League match. Amy Sissung, Brenda Buechlor and Michelle Carbone each added a goal. Michelle Lodyga had six saves for the Monarchs (7-4-2) at Mater Dei.
