Cal State Fullerton Plays at Fresno Tonight

FRESNO — Executives at ESPN were hoping that Fresno State quarterback Kevin Sweeney would be on a pace to become the NCAA’s all-time passing leader in tonight’s Pacific Coast Athletic Assn. game against Cal State Fullerton.
But Sweeney enters tonight’s game needing 653 yards to pass Doug Flutie’s record. Bruised and battered shoulders have caused Sweeney’s passing statistics to slip and have taken this game’s marquee value down with them. Kickoff is at 6 p.m.
This was supposed to be the Titans’ homecoming game, but Fullerton decided in August to rearrange the schedule to have this game included in ESPN’s Thursday night telecasts.
Back then, there were those who thought this could determine the PCAA championship. The Bulldogs are 3-1 in PCAA play and 6-1 overall and have little chance of making a return appearance to the California Bowl. The Titans are 1-3 and 2-7.
