41 Indicted in $1-Billion Drug Smuggling Ring

ATLANTA — A federal task force on drugs indicted 41 people, including two resident-alien “kingpins,” Friday on charges of operating a $1-billion ring that smuggled and distributed cocaine throughout the United States.
The indictments, unsealed in U.S. District Court here, climaxed a nine-month investigation called “Operation Quartermaster.”
