Outstandingly Tops $1-Million Mark, Wins Santa Lucia

Favored Outstandingly went over the $1-million mark in career earnings Saturday with a four-length victory in the $88,100 Santa Lucia Handicap for older fillies and mares at Santa Anita.
Ridden by Laffit Pincay, Outstandingly defeated eight rivals and earned a $52,100 winner’s purse to increase her career bankroll to $1,041,456. The daughter of Exclusive Native was the winner of the 1984 Breeders’ Cup race for 2-year-old fillies.
Longshot La Mimosa, ridden by Sandy Hawley, finished second, a head in front of Palm Reader, ridden by Alex Solis.
The winner was timed in 1:43 2/5 for 1 1/16 miles over a fast main track.
Sent off the 13-10 favorite, Outstandingly paid $4.60, $4 and $2.60. La Mimosa, a 13-1 shot, returned $9.20 and $4.20, and Palm Reader paid $3.20 to show.
