Two Long Beach brothers have been convicted in Superior Court of using softball bats to beat an umpire during a mid-game brawl last October. Benito Sinsun, 20, was convicted of simple assault, while Greg Sinsun, 20, was convicted of assault with a deadly weapon and battery. Although each is free on $2,000 bail, the brothers face jail terms of six months and one year respectively. Umpire Harold Neil Smith, 34, received bruises and cuts over one eye when he was attacked after trying to eject Greg Sinsun from the game. The brothers have also been banned for life from city league play.
