The state Public Utilities Commission has approved Pacific Bell’s plan to sell lists of its customers to direct-mail and tele-marketing firms. About 20 to 30 companies are negotiating to get the lists, which Pacific Bell will begin selling in mid-April. The only way that customers can keep their names, addresses and telephone numbers off the lists is to fill out and mail in a form included in their current Pacific Bell bills. Unpublished telephone numbers will not be included in the lists, a Pacific Bell spokesman said.
