Roundup : Mater Dei Rallies for Win, 12-9

Mater Dei High School rallied for six runs in the seventh inning Wednesday to gain a 12-9 Angelus League victory over Bishop Amat at Bishop Amat Wednesday.
The Monarchs entered the top of the seventh trailing 9-6, but had runners on first and second with two outs.
A two-run single by Tony Copeland made it 9-8. Two walks and a passed ball led to the Monarchs’ tying and winning runs.
John Dworzak then hit a two-run double to provide the Monarchs with a comfortable margin.
Mater Dei (1-1 in league, 5-2 overall) is at Bishop Montgomery Saturday.
In other Angelus League play:
Servite 10, St. Paul 4--Michael Robertson and Jason Rolish each went 3 for 4 to help the Friars at Servite. The Friars had 13 hits. Servite (2-0, 5-3) is at Pius X Friday.
In Sunset League action:
Ocean View 4, Edison 2--Pitcher David Holdridge hit a three-run homer in the first inning for the Seahawks (1-0-1, 4-1-1) at Mile Square Park. Holdridge, who went 2 for 3, was the winning pitcher, allowing five hits, striking out seven and walking four. Mike Tunstall (2-2) lost for Edison (0-2, 6-4).
In the Garden Grove League:
Santiago 11, Bolsa Grande 5--Ricardo Gallardo went 3 for 4 with five RBIs as the Cavaliers won easily at Santiago. David Petrutis and Joe Marquez each went 2 for 4 for the Cavaliers. Rick Hollis hit a solo home run in the fifth inning for the Matadors. Carlos Leon was the winning pitcher. Santiago is 1-1 and 4-2. Bolsa Grande is 1-1 and 3-3.
Garden Grove 3, La Quinta 0--Jerry Canada hit a two-run single in the first inning for the Argonauts at Garden Grove. La Quinta managed only three hits. Garden Grove (2-0, 3-1) is at Rancho Alamitos Friday.
In Freeway League play:
Sunny Hills 8, Buena Park 2--David Wackerman struck out 13 to help the Lancers at Buena Park. Rob Tash went 2 for 4 for the Lancers. Sunny Hills is 2-0 and 3-4.
Sonora 21, Fullerton 5--The Raiders sent 14 batters to the plate in the first inning, scored 10 runs, and cruised to the victory at Fullerton. Ron Lesperance went 5 for 5 with a home run, double, and five RBIs for the Raiders. Pitcher Brian Needham raised his record to 2-1. Sonora (2-0, 6-1) plays host to Sunny Hills Friday. Fullerton is 0-1 and 4-2.
In the Pirate-Goodman tournament:
Fallbrook 11, Laguna Hills 0--Bill Dunckel hit two solo home runs and a single to lead Fallbrook at Fallbrook High. In five games, Dunckel is 12 for 16 with three homers.
In the Academy League:
Cal Lutheran 8, St. Michael’s 1--Patrick Brainerd won the game at Tewinkle Park. Cal Lutheran (1-0) plays Newport Christian at Tewinkle Park Friday.
