PESHAWAR, Pakistan — Afghan fighter planes killed five Pakistani militiamen and injured 14 soldiers and militiamen in a strafing raid on their post near the Afghan border, officials said Wednesday.
Six jets entered Pakistani airspace Tuesday afternoon at Kharlachi and attacked the Kurram Scouts militia post at Qarshia village with rockets, they said. Kharlachi, only 62 miles southeast of Kabul, is on one of the many routes that Pakistan-based Afghan rebels use to enter the country and fight the Soviet-backed government.
