HIGH SCHOOL SOCCER : Yribe’s Pair of Goals Lead Royal Win, 2-0

Sophomore Barbie Yribe scored her 14th and 15th goals of the season Thursday as Royal High defeated Westlake, 2-0, in a girls soccer game. The win enabled Royal to maintain possession of first place and improve its league mark to 4-0-2. Westlake fell to 0-4-2.
Thousand Oaks (4-1-1 in league) edged Rio Mesa, 2-1, to stay within a half-game of Royal in the Marmonte League. Kristen Mealiffe scored Thousand Oaks’ first goal and then assisted teammate Christy Cheney on the game winner.
Chaminade coasted, 7-1, over Marlborough in the Sunshine League behind Amy Miller’s three goals. The Eagles also received two goals from Cris Cassaza, while Carol Bentley and Erika Vote scored one each.
Kelly Cook scored twice for Alemany (4-0 in league) which defeated Canyon 4-1, while Lisa Gill and Shannon Lambert each scored once for the Indians. Diana Franklin’s goal just before halftime was the first scored against Alemany in four games.
Ricky Acuna led with two goals and an assist in Simi Valley’s 5-0 win over Newbury Park (2-3 in league). Simi Valley (5-0-1 in league, 17-0-3 overall) scored four times in the first half behind Acuna, Jeff Tregembo and Steve MacKenzie.
Eric Wynalda scored twice in the first half to lead Royal over Westlake, 3-2, in a Marmonte League game.
