Shuttle Flight Delayed Again

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. — Technicians found a faulty engine valve in one of the hard-luck space shuttle Columbia’s engines today and NASA postponed Thursday’s fifth scheduled attempt to launch it.
No new launch date was set for Columbia and its crew of seven, who have suffered through four 11th-hour launch postponements in the last three weeks.
While checking the engines for possible damage after Tuesday’s postponement, technicians discovered a stuck valve in a liquid oxygen line. Officials said there was not time to correct the problem early enough to achieve a launch Thursday.
The weather outlook was marginal for a Thursday launch.
