Chapman’s Turnbull No. 1 Tennis Seed as Rolex National Indoor Gets Under Way

Troy Turnbull, the No. 1 singles player from Chapman College’s NCAA Division II championship tennis team, will represent the Southern California region in the Rolex National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships beginning today at the Sonesta Sanibel Harbour Resort in Ft. Myers, Fla.
Turnbull, a four-time All-American and the 1985 California Collegiate Athletic Assn. player of the year, is the top seed in the three-day, single-elimination tournament. He will meet Western region champion Rob Oertel of Stout State (Wis.) in the first round. Eight regional champions will be vying for a bid to the Rolex Division I championships, to be held in Houston, Feb. 6-9.
