El Camino’s Barber Is Offensive Player of Year in Pac-9

El Camino College quarterback Ron Barber, who passed for 2,441 yards and 17 touchdowns in only 9 games, has been named the Pac-9 Conference’s Offensive Player of the Year in a vote of conference coaches.
Safety Anthony Drawhorn of Cerritos College was named Defensive Player of the Year, and Fullerton’s Hal Sherbeck was named Coach of the Year.
Orange County players named to the all-conference offensive team from Golden West included center Rob Goff, tackles Bob Sims and Sonny Pau, tight end Mike Ray, receiver Gene Egan, quarterback Tim Hanson, running back Todd Parker and punter Rich Mendoza. Selected from Fullerton were center John Katnik, tackles Steve Anderson and Mike Knutson, receiver Aaron Grimm and running back John Green.
Named to the all-conference defensive team from Golden West were lineman Ken Sandbloom, end Richard Zumwalt and defensive back Brian Burnside. Fullerton linemen Frank Cozza and Nick Unger, end Dave Zuniga, linebackers Terry Page and Shawn Cardin and defensive back John Vanderstaay were also selected.
