Rancho Palos Verdes Miraleste and Palos Verdes will play for the Southern Section girls’ 4-A high school tennis title for the fourth straight year today at the West End Tennis & Racquet Club in Torrance at 1 p.m.
Defending champion Miraleste is undefeated in 20 team matches. Palos Verdes has a 22-2 record, both of its losses to Miraleste. Palos Verdes is considered the favorite, however, because Miraleste will be without three of its top four singles players, who will be competing in the Junior National Indoor Tournament.
The 3-A match, also beginning at 1, will feature undefeated teams, Santa Ana Mater Dei and San Marino, in a rematch of the 1983 title match, won by San Marino, 14-4.
Westminster La Quinta will be looking for its third straight 2-A title against Indio, and Thousand Oaks La Reina will play Pasadena Mayfield for the 1-A title. Both the 2-A and 1-A matches are scheduled for 10 a.m.
