Air Cleaner Makers to Change Ad Claims

WASHINGTON — The manufacturers of Norelco and Oster air cleaners have agreed not to misrepresent the ability of their products to eliminate indoor air pollution, the Federal Trade Commission announced Monday.
The commission had charged that Norelco Clean Air Machines and Oster brand air cleaners do not effectively eliminate significant amounts of air pollution, and that advertising for the products was false and misleading.
