Signal Landmark in 5 Counties : Spinoff Developer Making Its Mark

Signal Landmark Properties Inc., a major developer in Orange County and throughout Southern California, is one of the companies that has been spun off by Allied-Signal to form a new $2.4-billion corporation. The old Signal Co.’s development arm, Signal Landmark currently is involved in at least 30 residential and commercial projects throughout the region’s five major counties.
The projects include community development, residential, commercial and industrial development and land management. The seven largest are:
Bolsa Chica Project at Huntington Beach is a proposed marina development with as much as 5,700 residential units on 75 acres. Included are 1,300 berths and a 900-acre restored wetlands ecological park. The company has several other developments in Orange County.
Coronado Cays, a residential marina development on 200 acres on San Diego Bay begun in 1969. So far, 1,300 residential units have been constructed, with 400 remaining to be developed.
Cloverdale Ranch in Escondido, sits on 900 acres, with sites ranging from one-quarter of an acre to 10 acres. The company has approval to build on 640 rural residential lots.
Lancaster Landmark, in Los Angeles County near Lancaster, sits on 480 acres. Approval has been secured for more than 2,000 residential units and 20 acres of retail/commercial development.
Long Beach Airport Business Park is a 50-acre project that will include a Marriot Hotel and 1 million square feet of office development.
Signal Hill Industrial Park, in the Long Beach area, is a 100-acre commercial and industrial development that is nearing completion.
La Mirada Landmark, an adult community in South Los Angeles County.
Signal Landmark’s other Orange County projects include the planned community of Lake Forest; the Huntington Landmark adult community and The Newland retail shopping center, both in Huntington Beach, as well as several other small commercial and industrial developments scattered throughout the county
