DOHA, Qatar — The Qatari cargo ship Al Mansoura sank with the loss of two lives after hitting an oil field structure off the Saudi Arabian coast, the ship’s owners said Saturday.
The Qatar National Navigation & Transport Co. said two of the 21 crewmen on the 4,900-ton vessel were killed in the incident Thursday, while a search was continuing for the missing Egyptian captain, Abdul Hamid Gindi.
The shipping company said Saudi authorities reported that the Al Mansoura, carrying iron bars to Kuwait, hit a structure owned by the Saudi oil company Aramco.
Three other crew members were reported to be in good condition in the hospital after being picked up by the Saudi coast guard.
