Fred Lebow, race director of the New York City Marathon, announced that the 1986 race will be run Nov. 2, possibly setting up a head-on conflict with the America’s Marathon in Chicago.
“I can’t help that,” Lebow said of the possible confrontation with the Chicago race. “I can’t be concerned with any other marathons. There’s not only Chicago but also a marathon in Washington (the Marine Corps Marathon) that is run the same time.”
