Black & Decker Corp., stung by growing competition from imported power tools, reported a fourth-quarter loss of $195.1 million, compared to a profit of $24.5 million for the same period last year. After-tax restructuring costs of $194.7 million recorded in the quarter accounted for almost all of the loss. The company said it will reduce its manufacturing capacity by about a third, in part by closing some plants. The company also reported a loss of $158.4 million for the fiscal year ended Sept. 29.
