The American Cancer Society has announced that free kits for those who want to participate in its Great American Smoke-Out will be available beginning Monday at Valley Park Medical Center, 7011 Shoup Ave., Canoga Park, and at West Park Hospital, 22141 Roscoe Blvd., Canoga Park. The smoke-out, scheduled for Nov. 21, is the annual day when the society attempts to persuade millions of people to stop smoking for 24 hours.
The kits can be picked up from the hospitals’ information desks 24 hours a day through the day of the smoke-out. The packets include tips on how to quit, papers for non-smokers who want to adopt a smoker for the day, wristbands to remind smokers not to light cigarettes, and other literature.
