Entertainment business celebrities joined in a fund-raiser to benefit 11 people standing trial in Arizona for allegedly providing sanctuary for Central American immigrants. The affair was held at the Presbyterian Conference Center in Pacific Palisades. John Fife and Jim Corbet, two of the defendants, also were present at the fund-raiser, which was scheduled to include performances by musicians Don Henley and Lee Ritenour and Cheech and Chong. The event was sponsored by several entertainment leaders, including Madonna, Sean Penn, Michael Douglas, Burt Lancaster and Marlo Thomas.
