10 Missing as Barge Capsizes Off Norway

STAVANGER, Norway — Ten people were missing and presumed dead Tuesday after a barge capsized Monday night as it was transferring cement to an oil platform under construction, rescue officials said.
Twelve survivors were swiftly plucked from the water, but a massive sea and air search through the night and into Tuesday failed to find the other 10, a rescue official said.
“So much time has passed that there is little hope of finding further survivors,” he added.
Searchlights scanned the dark, icy waters in a fjord south of the country’s oil capital as two helicopters and a flotilla of other vessels joined the search for survivors within minutes after the accident.
