Work Begun on State Teachers Retirement Home

Construction has begun on Villa Gardens Retirement Center at 842 E. Villa St., Pasadena, a $12.5-million, five-story, 195-unit apartment complex designed for retired California teachers.
The center, owned by the Foundation to Assist California Teachers, will have underground parking, beauty salon, medical facility, entertainment lounge and ice cream parlor.
The architect is Roger Schutte & Associates of Omaha, and the builder is the Newport Beach office of St. Louis-based McCarthy Construction Co. Completion is expected in January, 1987.
