Calabasas marched 71 yards on its first possession before quarterback Darren Del’Andrae found tight end Jon Perlstein for a three-yard touchdown pass. . . . Santa Paula’s quarterback, Joseph Gonzalez, guided the Cardinals 67 yards before connecting with wide receiver Dennis Carney for an eight-yard touchdown pass play with 24 seconds remaining in the first quarter. . . . On the Coyotes next possession, fullback Jim Ervin scored from the 18 to put Calabasas ahead 16-14 at halftime.
KEY PLAYERS
The Calabasas defense stopped Santa Paula on fourth-and-two on the Calabasas six-yard line early in the fourth quarter and again on a first and goal from the one-yard line with 37 seconds remaining. Marty Garron (C) intercepted two passes in the second half. Jim Ervin (C) carried the ball 29 times for 152 yards and 2 touchdowns. Joseph Gonzalez (C) hit Dennis Carney (C) for an 85-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter.
