Malibu : Sprinkler Use Under Study

The Board of Supervisors has voted to consider a new fire prevention program for brush areas such as Malibu.
On a motion by Supervisor Kenneth Hahn, the board voted to study the feasibility of installing a sprinkler system that would reduce fire hazards by soaking land and vegetation during Santa Ana winds.
The above-ground system, similar to those used on farms, would be easy to construct because it would not require new technology, Hahn said.
