Hughes Ground Systems Gets NATO Contract

Hughes Aircraft Ground Systems Group in Fullerton said last week it will manufacture eight long-range portable radars for the North Atlantic Treaty Organization to detect aircraft approaching southern Europe. Sources said the contract price is reported to be about $100 million, but a company spokesman said the price still is being negotiated. Work on the radar systems is not expected to increase hiring at the Fullerton facility, already one of Orange County’s largest employers.
