Garden Grove : Cable TV Subscribers to Be Given Rebates

The estimated 13,000 cable TV subscribers in Garden Grove will get a share of as much as $270,000 in rebates as a result of the settlement of a lawsuit filed against Rogers Cablesystem by the city last December.
Rogers’ rates for basic service rose from $9.95 to $11.95 per month in October. Under the terms of the agreement, worked out in a closed session after Monday’s City Council meeting, the increase will remain in place, but subscribers are to receive a rebate of $2 per month for the period from Dec. 1, 1984, to Aug. 31, 1985, for a maximum of $18.
In addition, subscribers who canceled during that period can have the service reconnected at no charge. The rebates are to appear as credits on next December’s bills.
The agreement puts no restrictions on further rate increases.
