Synfuels awarded $60 million in subsidies.

The award for an oil project in Texas was made by the Synthetic Fuels Corp. despite a supposed understanding with the White House that no grants would be approved until President Reagan decides whether he wants the agency abolished. On a unanimous vote, the five directors of the quasi-governmental corporation approved $24.4 million in federal loan guarantees and $35.6 million in price supports for Greenwich Oil Co.’s Forest Hill heavy-oil project in Wood County, Tex.
