Mira Mesa Moves to No. 3 in Ratings

SAN DIEGO — Mira Mesa High, ranked seventh a week ago, moved up four spots in the Times’ Top 10 after the Marauders’ 27-14 victory over previously third-ranked Monte Vista.
Mira Mesa, led by quarterback DeWayne Odom (13 for 28, 200 yards) and wide receiver Kevin Hancock (6 receptions, 83 yards, 2 touchdowns), rallied for four touchdowns in the fourth quarter to beat the Monarchs, who fell to 10th in this week’s rankings.
Meanwhile, the other top six teams in last week’s poll all won. El Camino, now ranked fifth, was so impressive in its victory over Pt. Loma, 36-0, that it moved ahead of Vista, which was busy beating Oceanside, 31-7.
