Construction is nearing completion on Hughes Aircraft Co.’s corporate headquarters in Westchester.
Industry sources indicated that the cost of construction is almost $90 million.
The project, on a hillside overlooking Marina del Rey, consists of two, 900-foot-long parallel structures with an atrium the same length, spanned by three bridges. Designed by the architectural firm of Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, the project is being developed by the Koll Co. of Newport Beach with Koll Construction Co. as general contractor.
When completed in November, the project will provide 550,000 square feet of office space on four levels above ground and 550,000 square feet of parking for 1,150 cars on three levels below ground and will enable Hughes to consolidate its corporate staff.
The project is the largest developed for another owner by the Koll Co., which usually develops offices and industrial buildings for its own portfolio.
