PEKING — At least 26 people died, 120 others were missing and thousands left homeless in flooding sparked by three days of torrential rains in China’s southern Guangdong Province, a newspaper reported last week.
More than 70,000 people were trapped by flood waters last week in Guangdong, but most were rescued, the China Daily said.
Officials said 275,000 acres of farmland were under water, and floods destroyed 62 villages in one county, the newspaper said.
More than 700 Chinese have died this summer during severe storms.
