Two San Fernando Valley men died in separate motorcycle accidents Friday night and Saturday morning, Los Angeles police said Saturday.
John Curran, 22, of Tujunga died after his motorcycle crashed into the side of a truck about 7 p.m. Friday when the truck made a left turn across Curran’s path, Sgt. Buzz Camp said.
Investigating officers filed a request with the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office to charge the driver of the truck with manslaughter, but the driver was not arrested, Camp said.
Police said the accident occurred as Curran rode north on Foothill Boulevard and the truck began turning left onto Plainview Avenue in Tujunga.
Curran died of massive chest injuries at 7:40 p.m. at Verdugo Hills Hospital in Glendale.
In the second crash, Kenneth Edward Evans, 27, of North Hollywood died about 2:40 a.m. after he was thrown from his motorcycle when it hit a curb in the 3000 block of Laurel Canyon Boulevard in Studio City, police said.
Evans, who was not wearing a helmet, apparently was speeding when he struck the curb, Camp said. A witness said the bike landed on top of Evans about 90 feet from where he lost control, police said.
Evans was pronounced dead at Medical Center of North Hollywood.
