DEL MAR — Tangent rallied through the stretch and scored a narrow victory in the $40,000 feature race for older fillies and mares Thursday at Del Mar.
Ridden by New Zealander Greg Childs, Tangent finished a head in front of Foggy Moon, ridden by Bill Shoemaker. Avenger Mist, ridden by Laffit Pincay, was third, another half-length back.
The 5-2 favorite in the race, Lady De Saron, ridden by Rafael Meza, never got into contention and was sixth in the 10-horse field.
Tangent was clocked in 1:28 4/5 for 7 1/2 furlongs and paid $23.60, $10.80 and $6.
