CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. — Discovery’s crewmen today launched their third and final satellite, an improved model of the crippled radio relay station two astronauts plan to “hot-wire” during one or possibly two weekend spacewalks. The 7 1/2-ton Syncom 4 military communications satellite sailed out of Discovery’s payload bay at 3:49 a.m. PDT, spinning serenely away on its side like a giant drum-shaped Frisbee.
