Firefighters responding to a house fire on Monday at 2844 Rustic Gate Way in Orange found the body of Cogswell King, operator of a Norwalk beauty college, “the victim of an apparent gunshot wound,” according to Detective Lt. Mike Leintz.
Leintz said the interior of the King residence “sustained major fire damage throughout” and that the cause of the death and the fire was under investigation.
A neighbor said that he first noticed smoke coming from the home about 12:30 p.m. King’s wife, Monique, and the couple’s two daughters were staying with the neighbor temporarily, but all three family members declined comment.
“He’s been upset for a long time,” the neighbor said of King, a former Green Beret and Vietnam veteran.
