S. African White Fined for ‘Joke’ Shooting

JOHANNESBURG, South Africa — A 19-year-old white South African was fined $200 today after she told a court she shot a black maid as a joke.
The maid, who spent four days in the hospital after the shooting, told the court that a shot rang out as she fled after defendant Anna Willemse pointed the gun at her.
Willemse, who was found guilty of assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm, said that she was just joking and that the weapon went off accidentally.
