15 More Killed in Beirut Fighting

BEIRUT — Rival gunners shelled both sides of the capital for the fourth straight day today in fighting that killed at least 15 people and wounded 54 others, and battles erupted between Muslim militiamen and troops in the mountains east of Beirut.
Police sources said at least 15 people were killed and 54 wounded in overnight bombardment that calmed before dawn. Sporadic shelling resumed later in the day in Beirut. Militiamen exchanged machine-gun fire near the Green Line dividing Beirut into Christian and Muslim sectors.
