The Commerce Department said Allan H. Young has been named director of the Bureau of Economic Analysis. Young, 50, has been acting director since the November, 1984, retirement of George Jaszi. The bureau produces government estimates of gross national product and the index of leading economic indicators for the Commerce Department.
